Now
This is what I'm up to at the moment (updated April 5, 2026):
Today is Easter, and I'm writing at my inlaws' dinner table before everyone gets up for the day.
Spring in Ohio is a sprinkling of really nice days upon the ground of gray, chilly, rainy days. There are flowers and bud leaves starting to peek out hesitantly, like the humans. Slowly the nice days expand until about early May when it really starts to feel consistently like Spring.
I haven't run since Christmas, but I'm walking every day. I started daily walks of at least 1.5 miles, for Lent. I also started eating properly for Lent, but that fell off a couple of weeks ago.
Inspired by my kids' orchestra experiences these last few years, I've developed an interest in classical music and orchestra, and decided to take my double bass playing in that direction. As a mostly bluegrass and Americana player these last few years, I have developed exactly zero bowing technique so I decided to get started. I engaged the venerable Chris Vance for lessons, and joined the recently-formed Cleveland Pride Orchestra. We had our first performance last weekend and it was delightful. I have so much to learn.
Currently reading "Met At Arms" by Terry Pratchett and I just finished "Automatic Noodle" by Annalee Newitz.
Current worries include the number of backlogged "someday" projects I have, and the related volume of physical stuff (materials and supplies for projects, potentially useful drone and computer equipment, a motorcycle that is waiting for a carburetor repair, and most of my mom's stuff from her apartment).
What's a Now page? The idea of the "now" page is described here: https://nownownow.com/about It's intended to quickly give someone to get a sense of what you're up to. (What would you tell a friend you hadn't seen in a year?)
